A Big Post for A Big Day

It’s was big day for me yesterrday.  Firstly, it was the second audition for AVENUE casting and also, I was celebrating the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year in RL.  With that in mind, I have decided to use red colour for all my pictures today.

In this post, I will be sharing my stylings for the second phrase of the AVENUE casting and also a casual chic look, something that I would wear on my first day of Chinese New Year.

I have to say both the themes for audition yesterday were really challenging to my experience.

The first styling is an inspiration of Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2013 collections.  Models were asked to study the Collections and put on our own coin on it.  When I saw the Collections, immediately I thought of the Linen Blouse from .SHI that I bought at the Black Friday event last year.  It was a limited edition item and hence not many have seen it on the grid, which was a great news to me. :) I was really excited when Joy told me she is going to release the same blouse in Spring textures in the near future.  The best experience was being able to show case one of the designs at the live audition yesterday, prior to the release :)  Not only that, I also have the priviledge to put on the sleeves that .SHI has prepared as a group gift for its’ member and will also be released the same time as the top.  A big thank you to Joy Laperriere for sending me these items to use for this round of audition.  <333

As the blouse is a lovely and signature piece, the challenge is to make my personal coin stood out.  AW S/S 13 Collections emphasized on clean cut, so I wanted to made sure all the accessories I used were carrying the same essence; and below is the results.  This is my most favourite styling among the four I have done for this casting.  I hope you like it as much as I do.

The Second theme is Avant Garde/Fetish. I have to admit this is not my strongest styling although I did a lot of research on this theme, in each of the area i.e. avant garde, fetish, architectural, structural, and trying to think how I could incorporate all of them and still look good and over the top.  A friend reminded me that the styling has to tell a story so I spent most of my last two weeks on this particular theme, styled and restyled.  I knew my styling for this theme was not extraordinary so I tried to make it up with poses.  Now, I will let you be the judge.

Now, a lighter topic.

After the audition, I have put on an all new and bright look for the first day of Chinese New Year.  It is a Chinese tradition to wear new and red clothings on this auspicious day, so it was cool that I get to do that in SL too.  The Chinese Lunar New Year runs for 15 days, starting on Feb 10. It’s a modern oriental look that I am going for today; very excited that I get to wear my new Glance skin again.

Besides the blazer, I paired the Little Rose top with a skirt from the SHIKI Couture Dress – CHAT NOIR set.  The skirt has a combinatiion of fur and frills; it’s a really cute piece.  My shoes are the latest release from N-core called DIVA.

Love how everything goes together, although I think my friend JoV might called that skirt flirty.

On the runway

Have you ever played dress up in rl and pretend you are walking and posing on the runway?  I do that quite often with my 3-year old because it’s one of the ways to keep active when we are house bound in winter and this activity turned out to be quite popular in my home.  It’s not only a good way to have fun and laughters and clearing out our wardrobe ocassionally, we could also do some justice to the clothings that we don’t get to wear very often.  Also, make me appreciate my daughter’s good taste in fashion more.  She now not only decides what she wears, she will pick my clothings for me too.

My post today, needless to say, is inspired by this popular activity at home.  Hope you will enjoy my presentation on the runway.

The second cycle of L’accessoires will be starting right at 12am on September 15. That’s literally just 1 day away from now!! This cycle, we will see alot of new designers as well as some existing designers from the previous cycle, and all great brands with high quality accessories.

Solo Evane Mix & Match Contest

I love mix and match of my clothings, and the Solo Evane Mix and Match contest is a fun one.  The rules are to create an unique outfit mix and matching creations from Gizza, LpD (Les Petite Details), Solidea Folies, Blacklace and Chop Zuey Couture Jewelry, so the following is what I have came up with.

We are also reminded to make sure the styling make sense that it should tells a story, so my inspiration came from an unconventional bride, using bold colors and some edgy designs but keeping the overall look feminine.
