Family Portrait – Wizard of Oz

Everyone has got what they wanted and it’s time for Dorothy to head home!  Before that, let’s pose for a family portrait…..

HANDverk has made a series of relic items based on the original child novel ”Wizard of Oz”, for the latest Arcade event.

“The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum and published in 1900. The story tells of girl, Dorothy Gale, who gets swept away from her Kansas home by a tornado and lands in the land of Oz. She strives to return home to Kansas and in the process meets her three cohorts, the Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman and the Cowardly Lion, all of whom have their own desires that together they attempt to have fulfilled by the magical Wizard of Oz.

The story has become beloved in American culture mostly due to the 1939 MGM film starring Judy Garland. There are a number of differences and significant omissions the film that becomes apparent as one examines the items in this collection. Dorothy’s ruby slippers were originally silver in the book and items such as the green spectacles and golden cap were never a part of the famous movie.

This set are interpretations of the descriptions of important items in the story and are not intended to be literal. The book was originally illustrated by Baum’s friend and collaborator W. W. Denslow. The design of the book was lavish for the time with many illustrations in many colors. The MGM film borrowed liberally from Denslow’s depictions, but there is much room for interpretation regarding many of the items depicted by the set.

The original book has been in the public domain since 1956 and can be accessed online via many websites.”

If you are a Wizard of Oz’s fan, these are something that you really shouldn’t miss and if you are also a gatcha fan, then the more your should take this LM and let these items and event blown you away!

AVENUE Models Casting

These are my stylings for the AVENUE casting that took place today.  The themes given were really exciting and challenging, but every challenge pushes us a little more, to work harder on improvement and creativity, sometimes testing our patience, so I have to say this casting so far has been a new learning and enjoyable process to me.

Our first theme today is “The Details Is In The Devils”, with simple and minimalist clothing of neutral colour palates and playing up the look with statement accessories.  I used the same styling for my headshot submission.  Many has asked me about the hat.  I actually tinted the decorations and the scraf to match the colours and you will find my style cards below.

Our second theme is “New Baroque | New Romantic” with frills, fringes, lace highly patterned and our styling needs to be over the top, taking this soft romantic look to the next level.  Below is my interpretation of the theme.  I took inspiration from Donna Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2012 collections.  The veil is added not as a bribe but like those of old villagers put on young virgin girl.  I have chosen to only have the back part of the veil because of the constraints we have on prims, poses and runway rules.

There are a few people I like to thank for helping and supporting me on this first phrase of the casting.

Leah McCullough for her on going mentoring and helping with this photography.  Leah has been very patience with the photoshoot process because two of the sims we went to take just three pictures were very laggy and it took us 3 hours to complete that and not to mention her amazing works in capturing every details of my stylings.  You are awesome Leah!

Miffyhoi Rosca from Zenith Fashion for custom making the mesh lace veils for me in such a short notice and she did it exactly the way I imagined it.  I especially love the lace part.  Thank you Miffy! <3

Also to RKThings Crystal from Vintage Jewelry for custom making the necklace in silver for me which I have to apologize for later changing it to gold because it stands out more on the runway.

Monica Outlander from Miamai for a workaround on the boots and last but not least some of my dear friends that were in the audition together and also those that have been truly supportive in the entire casting process.

Bilo + HANDverk

“Do you have a passion for SL photography? Original mesh content and eclectic clothing/accessory/furniture design? Are you a fan of the Bilo and HANDverk brands? Then this is a contest for you.”

Bilo and HANDverk are having a collaborated contest and I have always been a HANDverk fan but I have to admit I have just got to know about Bilo through this contest, so I went to check the store and found the designs really colorful and vibrant.  Something that I would definitely wear on daily and special ocassions.  Needless to say I decided to take up the challenge and did a last minute submission.

As both Bilo and HANDverk have quite a great selections, it took me awhile to decide what I would like to wear and because I didn’t have much time to work on my submission today, I have gone for something simple yet graceful.  I have also challenged myself to use some items that I already have in my inventory.  I remember the HANDverk Rose necklace that I bought from Collabor88 and didn’t have the chance to put on.  This is just the perfect event for it.  The picture is best view in its’ original size, on flickr.  Hence, do remember to click on the picture below and follow the steps to view it.

L’accessoires Cycle 4

I can’t believe we are already into Cycle 4 of the L’accessoires event.  The items we found at L’accessoires just get better and better, and honestly if I could wear everything on me and still make sense, I would!   Having said that, I will do my best to show you how these wonderful accessories could be styled.  You may agree with my style, you may not, but you gotto agree they are some super chic, trendy and high quality stuffs.  Definitely worth every of the penny.
