It has been quite a fun two weeks for me, styling and preparing for one of the biggest agency castings on the grid. There have been three phrases of the casting. First being a photo submission of the Fall theme. Leah helped me with two of the pictures because I was ill on the week the photo submission was due. (Thank you so much Leah! <33) As usual, Leah managed to captured the essence I wanted and these are the pictures that got me through phrase I.

Phase II was a runway challenge and style to the “Minimalist” theme. I took quite awhile to decide on the look because this theme evolves quite a fair bit in RL, based on fashion trends too. Minimalists used to style minimal with neutral colours and one piece clothing, however as fashion evolves, I noticed people are starting to use some accessories and sometimes added a statement piece, added a pop color and still called it “minimalist”. Eventually, I have decided to go for the look that I like for a minimalist and I took inspiration from real life model Miranda Kerr, that is very much a minimalist in her styling. 🙂
This is the look that got me advanced into Phase III of the casting. 🙂

Phase III, also a runway challenge, is the total opposite of the Phase II theme. For this challenge, we need to use Roberto Cavalli Fall Collection 2012 as an inspiration, with the use of colors. Cavalli’s vision of Fall included short dresses in jewel toned colors of emerald-green, plum, fuchsia, electric blue and burgundy. Also, animal prints, fur and leather gloves dominated the runway living to the theme of his fashion show – “Sumptuous”. In this challenge we were also asked to write the descriptions of our style which you will be able to find mine below the pictures. 🙂
Theme: Robert Cavalli Fall 2012 Inspiration

As we are not expected to recreate an exact style of the RL, I used a different types of hair and accessories keeping in mind of the elements, materials and prints Cavalli uses for this season and my description reads as follow:
“Glamorous and extravagant, Ai hits the runway, in Roberto Cavalli’s Fall 2012 inspired look, in an electric blue sequin top and an exotic cat prints skirt. The jewel like electric blue color contrasts perfectly with the colors of the cat prints. A matching sequins belt and shoulder Anja fur complements her style.
As though sequins, cat prints and fur are not enough, Ai is taking this already sumptuous look further adding a pair of black leather gloves and shiny leather boots. The embellish necklace and little tint of sequins on the boots accentuate this luxurious theme. Also inspired by Robert Cavalli’s Fall 2012 campaign, Ai added a little taste of wilderness by wearing a wet-look hair. The crown is Ai’s little twist to the look. With the add of a new element, Ai brought some fun and taking this maximalist style to another level.
To achieve her ensemble today, Ai edited some parts of her clothing, just like Cavalli, a clever trick in creating an ensemble that feels particularly modern and natural, albeit the mixture of multiple prints and textures.”
I enjoyed this casting alot because not only these themese are fun to style to, they also gave my shopping trips a little more missions and meanings, not to mention all the refreshing clothings I have seen for the past couple of weeks.
This casting has also brought my skills to another level, when I decided to retexture my skirt and some parts of my shoes as I couldn’t find the types of prints I wanted.
While we are waiting for the results, next phrase, if I am selected, will be an interview so do wish me luck! 🙂
